Meet the MidwiFe

Midwife Sarah Hood CPM, APRN, CNM

Sarah attended Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgeton, Maine.  In 2006, she became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and began attending home births. In 2008 she returned to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She received an Associates of Applied Science from Morehead State University in 2010 and became an RN. In 2014 she received a Masters of Midwifery from Stonybrook University and became a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife in Kentucky. Since then she has completed the Lactation Consultant Training Program with Lactation Education Resources and is now a retired La Leche League leader. See her complete resume here.   


Sarah has taken part in over 530 births.  She is a native Lexingtonian and lives in Lexington with her husband, Erik and their two daughters, Anabelle and River. When not engaged in midwifery she enjoys playing board games, trail running, cuddling cats, watching chickens, knitting, sewing, amateur home renovations, and many other crafty activities.
