Serving the greater Lexington & Eastern Kentucky Regions
Your team here at Home Sweet Home is happy to be as hands on, or off with you as you are comfortable with, while monitoring you and the baby for safety. Through experience and research, we have learned that most people do best surrounded by those they trust in a comfortable environment.
Home Sweet Home is a place to be and feel comfortable. Our goal is to facilitate open, trust-filled relationships between our team and your family as you prepare to welcome your precious new baby! You may expect your visits to be relaxed, and we invite you to ask any questions or address concerns that will come up during your pregnancy each time you are with us!
Normally, your prenatal care will consist of
1 Visit every 4 weeks until 28-30 weeks
1 Visit every 2 weeks until 36-37 weeks
1 Visit every week until delivery.
These basics may change in order to accommodate your individual needs. Sarah & Tress can also order any necessary lab work or diagnostic tests as needed.
Having a baby should be a positive experience, so our main focus is to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to bring your baby into the world and begin bonding immediately.
Your Midwife will be on call for you 24/7 starting 4 weeks before your estimated date of delivery, and will plan with you when it is the right time to have them come to your home. She will attend your birth at your home. She will assess the health and safety of you and the baby throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth and assist in transfer to the hospital if needed.
Our job isn’t done once birth is over. Your team will stay in close contact with you after your birth to provide any assistance you need for healthy development and healing. We do the newbown exam as well as the CCHD, Metabolic Screening and hearing screening that are normally done in the hospital, in the comfort of your home. We will follow babies progress for the first 6 weeks. We recommend you see your pediatrician starting with the 2 month visit, and we will give you paperwork to take to them letting them know about the care your baby has had prior to that. Birth certificate and social security paperwork will be done through our practice.
